Time management is huge on a farmstead. As a momma who is managing the home, kids, garden, and animals, you must manage your time to get anything done. I am constantly on the go during the day. Nothing annoys me more than doing nothing when there are things that need to be done. Below are some of my top time management tips for the busy momma.

#1 Know how long tasks will really take. Write it down if you need to. If you have never done the task with kids, take the time it would take you previously and double it. Seriously, that is the best way to guess. Usually, it’s about right too. If you get done sooner, congratulations! You can move to the next task.

#2 Write down what needs to be done. This can be a running list you add as you think about it, or in a planner. My planner has a space for the daily schedule, business must do’s, all the other to do’s, and personal care (yes I have to write down to care for myself).

#3 Prioritize what must be done, and what you would like to get done. Again, this can be written on your list or on your planner. Writing it down helps to quickly decide which task to accomplish.

#4 Schedule time for your ‘work.’ Whether it is a side hustle or tasks you cannot safely do with kids in tow. Assign those tasks to that time slot, then do them when the time comes.

I use these four steps every day. It starts with writing the list down either in the evening or first thing in the morning. One of my work times is first thing in the morning. Having that list ready to go marked with what needs done in the ‘work’ time, helps me to not fumble around and waste the morning.

Over the years, I have gotten a better idea of how long tasks take and can tackle them as time allows. I usually have 15 min or less tasks on my list as well, that I can quickly do as time allows.

As I've grown in  my journey as an entrepreneur, mom, gardener, and livestock owner, I struggled to find a planner that met my needs and kept me organized. So I MADE MY OWN. You can take a look at it on the link blow and buy it on amazon below
